The Kind of Morning

Central Texas Leopard Frog, June 2020

Almost every morning, the dog wakes me up to go out, I feed the birds, and make a cup of coffee.

Today, I carried birdseed to the first feeder and out of the corner of my eye, I saw this handsome fella watching for his breakfast in the butterfly pool. My jaw dropped - my heart surged. These are the best surprises. I can't believe he stayed there while I went inside to get the camera - and that he didn't jump away at the sound of the shutter click. We sat watching each other for a long moment.

Almost a year ago, I set out to fall in love with life again - and this morning is the kind of morning that makes it happen.

Blessing

Florida, 2020

Lord, bless those who thrive in harsh conditions.
Lord, bless those who set down strong roots.
Lord, bless those who hold things together.
Lord, bless those who often go unnoticed.
Lord, bless those who dare to become fully alive.

                   You are sustained.
                   You are steadfast.
                   You are secure.
                   You are seen.
                   You are glorious.
