The Kind of Morning

Central Texas Leopard Frog, June 2020

Almost every morning, the dog wakes me up to go out, I feed the birds, and make a cup of coffee.

Today, I carried birdseed to the first feeder and out of the corner of my eye, I saw this handsome fella watching for his breakfast in the butterfly pool. My jaw dropped - my heart surged. These are the best surprises. I can't believe he stayed there while I went inside to get the camera - and that he didn't jump away at the sound of the shutter click. We sat watching each other for a long moment.

Almost a year ago, I set out to fall in love with life again - and this morning is the kind of morning that makes it happen.
